Our Mission

Staying Put in New Canaan is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer-supported organization dedicated to giving our seniors the practical means and social support to live their lives to the fullest, safely and confidently, in the New Canaan community.

50 members of Staying Put in New Canaan enjoyed a perfect summer evening on August 14th at a pot-luck picnic dinner. Famous chef, Jim Cole, enjoys an appetizer with Dick and Lois Sandberg. Everyone relaxed and enjoyed a great evening!

Darien. Join Babs White for a guided 2 p.m. tour of bridal customs and costumes throughout the ages. Please bring a wedding artifact or story of your own for a chat over iced tea and cookies. ($5 suggested donation.) RSVP to Staying Put. Car pool from SPNC.

Fri., Sept. 26, 5:30 p.m: Lobster Fest
N.C., Historical Society. Enjoy a lobster dinner including corn, coleslaw, soft drinks and dessert. Hosted by the Rotary Club of New Canaan. RSVP to Staying Put. Tickets: $35 (purchase at Staying Put.)

Sat., Sept. 27, 1:30 p.m: New Canaan High School Football Game
Dunning Stadium. Come out and support our high school team andwatch an exciting football game between New Canaan Rams vs. Greenwich Cardinals. Tickets sold at door - price TBD. RSVP.

  • Tuesdays, Sept. 23 - Oct. 21, 6:30 p.m: MED ED, New Canaan Library, Adrian Lamb Rm. Program Director, Deena Ebright, M.D., Stamford Hospital, New Canaan Library and New Canaan Chamber of Commerce cordially invite the public to this 5-week mini medical seminar. The focus will be on the structure of a medical school experience. RSVP - newcanaanlibrary.org.

  • Wed., Sept. 24, 10:30 a.m: Planning for the Future, Lapham. Elder Law Attorney Sam Starks will talk about legal issues that arise in our later years, including wills, estates, public benefits, powers of attorney plus other elder law topics. RSVP: 203-594-3620.

  • Sun., Oct. 5, 1 - 3 p.m.: Town of New Canaan Seasonal Flu Clinic, New Canaan H.S. Walk-ins for residents ages 9 years and older. Fee: $30. Medicare (if applicable) will be billed at the allowable rate.

  • Tues., Oct. 7, 7:15 p.m: "Living Tableaux," New Canaan Inn. This interactive and musical event will recreate famous scenes from movies. RSVP- SPNC and let us know if you need car pooling.

  • Thurs., Oct. 9: Lapham Center Flu Clinic (call for appointment 203-594-3620.) Fee: $30. Medicare (if applicable) will be billed at the allowable rate.
