Hello Staying Put members and friends
The Board of Directors of Staying Put in New Canaan is pleased to announce the election of four new members to our Board.
Jim Cole has an impressive record of community service: a founder of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Director Office of Emergency Management, chair of both Fire and Police Commissions, American Red Cross Advisory Board for CT and RI, certified ARC shelter manager, and associate member of the town Fire Company No. 1. Jim is active in the Congregational Church. He and his wife, Nancy Upton, have lived here since 1995.
New Canaan native Chris Hussey has served 28 years on the Town Council in positions including Education Committee Chair, Secretary, and Vice-Chairman. She operates her own real estate business, has practiced for 42 years exclusively in New Canaan, and has been president of the Connecticut Association of Realtors. She is President of the 60-unit Canaan Parish moderate housing. She is a Trustee of St. Aloysius Church and has been a Eucharistic Minister for 25 years.
Phil Ives and his wife Joan have lived in New Canaan since 1964. He is active as a Getabout Advisory Board member and has worked as a Community Fund grants distribution member. Phil is also a former trustee of the New Canaan Nature Center.
Joel Pelzner moved to New Canaan in 1980 with IBM. He retired in 1998 and then co-founded a technology company in Norwalk. He retired again in 2009 and got his real estate license to help his wife Carol with her business. He served as President of the Senior Men's Club from 2012-2013, and is currently a board member and chairman of the 2014-2015 nominating committee. He is also on the Board of the Schoolhouse Apartments and a volunteer driver for Staying Put.
